Business Christmas Cards - The Nightmare Before Christmas
Picture our entrepreneur as she waits in eager anticipation for the sound of the postman\'s laboured breathing pulling a sack to her door. That postal struggle signals a bag bursting with cheery festive business greetings from almost every business she\'s ever dealt with. By return the entrepreneur sends out her own sackful of business Christmas cards with the Cheery Santa joke, the serious Christmas message or the politically correct card \"for use in a celebrational context.\"\r\n\r\nLike you I\'ve had them all. Have you had cards with messages like these?\r\n\r\nit was great to do business with you. How about more in the New Year?\r\nMake this New Year our best ever, together\r\nJust to wish Yuletide Greetings/Happy Christmas/Happy Xmas\r\nFrom one winning team to another\r\nEven cards with no message or signature.\r\nPerhaps the cards were signed by the MD, the \"whole team\", the MD\'s secretary or the office junior. Or maybe the signature was pre-printed with the message on the card.\r\n\r\nAre You Sending Cards That Are Meaningless? Why send cards that mean nothing? It\'s not going to get us any more business. To some businesses greeting cards are the nightmare before Christmas. The perception is that cards are just a chore almost every business does around end of November/ start of December every year.\r\n\r\nAnd yet when you communicate at Christmas time it’s that period of peace and goodwill to all men. People are looking forward to Christmas and often people are more relaxed and better disposed to others.\r\n\r\nAre We Right To Send Out Stacks of Christmas Cards?\r\n\r\nI\'ll be looking at that answer in part two of this post series and then going onto to giving some steps to a better way of talking to your customers at Christmas.
